for Young Musicians

FESTIVAL WINNERS

Solo Entry only - SOLO ENTRY FORM

These classes are for the more serious young musician and are highly competitive. All adjudications will reflect this. Entrants in classes 47-53 are expected to demonstrate the ability to choose a suitable programme. The same piece may not be played, by the same person, more than once during the festival weekend. Entrants must perform the same piece of music as stated on the entry form. Entrants may not change their programmed piece of music. Concertos may NOT be played in Recital classes.

47
Junior Recitalist

For junior musicians who wish to perform a more extended repertoire.
EITHER two or more contrasting pieces, OR a single piece, such as one movement from a sonata.
Open to anyone currently in school year 6 or under, we recommend you be at least Grade V standard.

Young Recitalist

For young musicians who wish to perform a more extended repertoire.
EITHER two or more contrasting pieces, OR a single piece, such as one movement from a sonata.
Open to any performer currently in school year 9 or under, we recommend you be at least Grade VI standard.

Senior Recitalist

Two or more contrasting pieces, up to the time limit. This Open to any performer aged 18 or under on 31/8/2010.

Concerto Class

One movement from a concerto. This class is open to any solo performer aged 18 or under on 31/8/2010. We recommend that entrants should be at least Grade VI standard.

Unaccompanied Bach

 

For unaccompanied solo performances of the music of J.S. Bach. The piece must be a single movement.
The class is open to any performer aged 18 or under on 31/8/2010. The class is for bowed strings only.

Song Recital

Open to any performer aged 18 or under on 31/8/2010.
The programme should consist of at least two contrasting pieces, one of which should be in the original foreign language, (i.e. not in Welsh or English).
Operatic arias & song may be included. Songs from Theatre and Film are NOT allowed in this class.

Acoustic Jazz Solo

Open to any solo performer aged 18 or under on 31/8/2010. The class is open to any non-electric instrument and also to vocalists.
The performer may have an adult accompanist or may use a pre- recorded accompaniment.
