CLASS 1 - NON-COMPETITIVE CLASSES

(Solo entry £4.00 Ensemble entry £5.00)

Soloists must be aged 18 or under on 31st August 2008.

Entrants may play ONE piece up to the time limit specified for their age group, (see Time Limits).

Ensembles must not exceed 8 people - Two of these may be ADULTS.
An adult conductor is also allowed.

Children may play a piano duet with an adult.

Classes will be divided sympathetically according to age/instrumental mix.

All children who take part will receive certificates. All children who are in School Year 2 or under on the 31st August 2008 will receive a 'special' medal.

If the official accompanist will be required, please refer to the separate table for applicable fee.

COMPETITIVE CLASSES

Entrants may play ONE PIECE UP TO THE TIME LIMIT SPECIFIED for their age group (see Time Limits)

All entrants will receive an adjudicator's report.

First, second and third place medals may be awarded at the adjudicator's discretion. 'Special' green medals may also be awarded for any aspect of the performance that the adjudicator feels may warrant this. e.g. potential, musicality.

The trophy may be awarded to the first place medal winner, if the adjudicator considers this to be appropriate.

Entrants may use the official accompanist.

The SGFYM will divide classes according to the number of entries received. Time limits should be adhered to even if classes are of mixed age groups.

Classes 6, 8, 10, 12 & 14 are for Juniors who have not yet taken ABRSM Grade 2 or equivalent. Classes 18, 20, 22, 24, 26 are for Intermediates who have not yet taken ABRSM Grade 3 or equivalent The SGFYM reserves the right to combine or divide classes according to the number of entries received.

N.B. Adults are allowed to accompany VOCAL ENSEMBLES only.
Adults are NOT allowed to conduct or accompany any competitive ensemble entry. All ensemble members, including non adult accompanists must be named on the entry form.
